This is a study of peasent agriculture, economics, demography, and social organisation in Northeast Thailand and includes valuable discussions about peasants and their adaptive strategies. Along with discussing the constraints in agricultural intensification in a high-risk environment which offers new insights into the failure of rural development efforts in the region.
