AHMED, Shaiha Easa

Histroy and Heritage of Maritime Asia

Shaiha Ahmed Easa serves as the Country Coordinator for the Maldives Field Team of the Maritime Asia Heritage Survey (MAHS), where she brings extensive experience in heritage management and preservation. Prior to this role, she made significant contributions to cultural heritage protection at the National Center for Cultural Heritage (NCCH), under the Maldives Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Heritage. During her time in government service, she was actively involved in initiatives that emphasized the importance of heritage policy in safeguarding cultural assets.

Shaiha also volunteered during the pilot phase of the Maldives Heritage Survey, further deepening her engagement with the field. Since 2023, she has expanded her focus to archival heritage, working as an Archivist and developing a keen interest in the management of archival collections. Her ongoing work with MAHS has sparked a strong interest in digital heritage, enhancing her approach to documentation and preservation.

In 2024, Shaiha completed a short workshop in archaeology—a collaboration between MAHS, the University of East Anglia, the Maldives National University, and the National Center for Cultural Heritage.

She is passionate about advancing her knowledge in heritage policy development, archival practices, and the innovative use of digital tools to support the documentation and safeguarding of cultural heritage.
