Pramoedya’s World: Commemorating the Centenary of the Birth of Pramoedya Ananta Toer


Pramoedya Ananta Toer (1925-2006), widely regarded as Indonesia’s finest modern author and one of Southeast Asia’s literary giants, marks his centenary in February 2025. Pramoedya’s works, translated into multiple languages including Japanese, French, Dutch, and English, have left an indelible mark on Worlding Literature. He was the recipient of numerous international awards and prizes, including the Ramon Magsaysay Award (1995), Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (2000), and the Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize (2000).

This roundtable presents a unique opportunity to celebrate his life and legacy, fostering cross-cultural dialogue and intellectual engagement.
