This book shows how 1,126 photographs (of which 462 are published in this book) relating to Taiwan before and during the war from a total of 71,722 photo stocks , the so-called Fuji Warehouse photo stock. They depicted the social conditions of urban and non-urban Taiwan in both wartime and peacetime and were used by the Asahi Shimbun in its media activities.
And it is a book as a result of an international collaboration between Prof. Chung leading the Colonial History Group of the Institute of Taiwan History and Prof. Kishi of Kyoto University.
