On Thursday, 30 May, the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (FISIPOL UMY), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Takdir Ali Mukti, together with five of his staff, visited CSEAS. Director Fumiharu Mieno, Professor Masaaki Okamoto, Assoc. Prof. Motoki Yamaguchi (Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies, Kyoto University), and Program-Specific Asst. Prof. Youdiil Ophinni (Hakubi Center for Advanced Studies) welcomed their visit and had a discussion about collaborative exchanges in the field of education and research.
UMY is the Yogyakarta academic branch of the long-respected Islamic non-governmental organization Muhammadiyah, which has 171 universities across Indonesia. FISIPOL UMY covers the fields of international relations, communications, and governmental studies. Potential academic collaborations and works in several indexed academic journals possessed by FISIPOL UMY were discussed. In particular, CSEAS invites colleagues from UMY to participate in the 48th Southeast Asia Seminar and the Visual Documentary Project. UMY also actively accepts foreign researchers and graduate students.
