Overview
Kreangkrai Kirdsiri's areas of interest include vernacular architecture and built environment in Southeast Asia and Asia, heritage conservation and management, and the interpretation for cultural tourism and museum.
He has been conducting research throughout mainland Southeast Asia, including Myanmar, Laos PDR, Cambodia, and Vietnam, as well as on historic towns and world heritage sites in Thailand. He has also been conducting research in port towns in Southeast Asia, along with members of his research team from Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and China.
His goal is to provide research and academic services that assist the government, local communities, and private sector in developing policies and promoting sustainability through a research laboratory. He has named the Centre of Excellence for Integrated Research of World Heritage, Creative City, and Historic Urban Landscape in Southeast Asia (IWCH), which focuses on built vernacular and heritage.
