Overview
Russian Empire's Conception of Asian Trade on the Siberian Frontier
My research focuses on how the Russian Empire's pragmatic interest in trade with the Kazakh steppe, Central Asia, China and India emerged in the first half of the 19th century. In recent years I have been interested in the significance of Asian trade for the economic situation in the Siberian Line of fortresses region.
Russia's Conception of the Russo-Qing Trade
My research focuses on the Russian conception of the Russo-Qing trade in the 18th and early 19th centuries. In recent years, I have been interested in elucidating how information about the Qing dynasty brought to Russia via Europe by sea in the first half of the 18th century contributed to the Russian conception of trade and the formation of the Russo-Qing trade.
