As part of the GCR (Global Collaborative Research hosted by the Center for Southeast Asian Area Studies, Kyoto University) program, Prof. Wataru Yamazaki and Prof. Tetsuya Tanaka (Kagoshima University, Joint Faculty of Veterinary Medicine) visited the University of the Philippines, Los Baños (UPLB).

They paid a courtesy call to the Chancellor, and Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine and gave special lectures on rapid diagnosis of tick-borne diseases and animal infectious diseases for faculty and students. Prof. Yamazaki also demonstrated the implementation of rapid diagnostic methods to young faculty and students. 

UPLB, Kyoto University, and Kagoshima University are conducting collaborative research to control the spread of animal infectious diseases in the Philippines.
