Research on Natural Disasters and Their Impact to Human Activities in the Coastal Regionof the Bay of Bengal

I promoted the research on the natural hazard in the coastal region of the Bay of Bengal of the Southeastern and the South Asia. Severe tropical cyclones, serious floods and severe local storm including tornadoes have provided the heavy damages almost every year in the coastal countries of the Bay of Bengal such as Bangladesh and Myanmar. We transferred the accumulated experience and knowledge as the successful counter measures for the reduction of the similar damages in Myanmar, where few experiences have not been accumulated. We tried to establish the method of reduction of those disasters, based on the in situ knowledges and experiences. Using both of the hard and soft methods, we promoted “Sharing the information of risk and evacuation”.
