Overview
Japan is approaching the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. The importance of accurately passing the memories of the war, the large-scale national project that mobilized the entire nation, to later generations is increasing each day as the number of generations who witnessed the war gradually decreases. The war and its effects are not limited to Japan but a much wider Asia-Pacific region. Physical traces of the war can be found from the ground to the seabed in this area. Memories of the war have also been passed down among the people overseas who were affected by the war. I am interested in what the past was like before and during the war and how it remains today through maritime and modern conflict archaeological methods. I am also interested in how people pass on their memories of the war to future generations through these war heritages.
