Overview
Aquatic ecosystem response to multiple anthropogenic stressors and resulting transformation of ecosystem services in East and Southeast Asia
My primary research focuses on evaluating the effects of multiple anthropogenic stressors (e.g. biological invasions, water pollution, fishing pressure, and habitat modification) in aquatic ecosystems ranging from lotic and lentic freshwater, estuary and coastal realm. My research also investigates changes in ecosystem services resulting from ecosystem responses and their interactions with socio-cultural transformations. Furthermore, as a specific example of environmental stressors, my study also examines the quantitative and qualitative distribution of marine debris and the responses of coastal geomorphology and coastal vegetation to it. Recently, utilizing the opportunity presented by the inability to conduct fieldwork due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I have been interested in Conservation Culturomics, the new field of study that elucidate the relationship between people and nature through the analysis of digital data.
