We invite junior scholars conducting research on/in Southeast Asia to join us for tea with our special guest at CSEAS, Professor Patricia Sloane-White (Professor of Anthropology; Chair of Women & Gender Studies, University of Delaware, USA). Professor Sloane-White has conducted extensive research on the Islamic economy and gender in Malaysia over more than 30 years and is one of the prominent anthropologists studying Malaysia today.  

This event offers an opportunity for junior scholars to receive consultation and practical advice on: 

• conducting ethnographic fieldwork in Southeast Asia
• completing a PhD dissertation on time 
• publishing in top peer-reviewed journals 
• preparing grant applications for various funding bodies 
• applying for research & tenure-track positions abroad
